Suspect in car bomb in Mogadishu arrested by police

Security forces in Mogadishu Saturday arrested a man identified by members of the public for detonating a car bomb that injured a passerby.

According to sources at the scene, the man was spotted by members of the public remotely detonating the bomb which is believed to have been planted in the vehicle earlier.

Twins blasts went off at about noon causing scare in the area which has enjoyed relative peace for several months. There have been no major bomb attacks in Mogadishu in the recent months safe for occasional vehicle borne explosions in the outskirts of the city.

A woman who was passing by Safari Hotel area was injured in the blast. The vehicle which is reportedly owned by a government official was engulfed in fire
